Our Character for June is Mr Dimos Nikolaou.

Dimos was born on 18th November 1947 in the village of Kinousa. He is married to Archontia and they have three children and six grandchildren. Dimos moved to Ayia Marina in 1971 when he and Archontia were married. He is a carpenter by trade and has been since 1960.

Today he has a workshop in Ayia Marina. In his spare time, Dimos likes to make replicas of the tools that the villagers used in older times, some original size and some miniature versions. These have become very popular with young people and his services are being called upon more and more. When I went to interview Dimos, I was astonished at the craftsmanship that went into each and every piece and the amount of items being made.

I have noticed that peoples like Dimos are showing the young people what went on in the old days, which is very important so that traditions are not lost. Well done Dimos, keep up the good work.
